THE SCARECROWS

Come help visiting Canadian artists Thom Sokoloski and Jenny-Anne McCowan (Thomas+Guinevere) transform Socates Park into a field of free-standing, larger-than-life, glowing sculptural scarecrows. The Scarecrows will be designed and erected to ward off misfortune and protect the creative spirit of Socrates Park during our annual Halloween Harvest Festival which is on Saturday, October 20 (11am-3 pm). Using a variety of materials and found objects, the artists will lead participants, during a series of registered and drop-in workshops, in creating an immersive, multi-cultural installation that will transpose the area’s history of ghost stories, superstitions and tales of the macabre into The Scarecrows.

Please note that if you are going to participate, you are required to attend one Orientation Session (either Sunday August 19 or Monday August 20) about the project and process, as well as the Assemblage on Wednesday August 29 and the Disassemblage on Friday, August 31.

We would then appreciate that you commit to a minimum of three Workshops in addition to the Orientation Session and Assemblage and Disassemblage dates.
